it is unbelievable how still ibm is in business. one reason of course is its clout in financial world and its root in MF. But then that leads IBM in competition with 1 million IT personnel from India alone.
In order to be relevant outside mainframe business IBM is about 2% in new technology infrastructure such as Cloud dominated by Amazon and Microsoft. Worse it is unimaginable that IBM has no longer carry technology depth. IBM has no original product of their own in last 10-15 years. Java took world lead. Now it is javascript. IBM is nowhere in picture. For a while after acquiring DataPower it looked IBM was stable in integration field. But it is losing stream.
My personal Experience with IBM isd the lack of technical depth at IBM. All the technologies it acquired from outside are discrete attempt and not market leadership. IBM BPM, IBM ODM etc are just not making any impact. IBM Global services cannot deliver any solution in time using these technologies. It is repulsive to meet any IBM technologist. They are decades old and out of touch with technology. They do not have any vision or depth.
All these apart, IBM had strong marketing team and management team. Today the do not evoke any confidence at all. IBM is 90% filled with 4th rate management personnel with very little university education.
