shruti
the stories or words from the class of writings called shruti must necessarily be listened to. the truth in it or meanings in them as per the listener ~ whatever be their perceptions. if anyone is listening to me!
all truths in them is perceived truth of an individual and there is no correctness or correction. there is another class of writings called smriti and them can be memorized or read but no assimilation is required but for reproduction. smriti is used for events called puja brata or celebrations.
strange yet not so strange. the collection of smriti and shruti was done in the hills of badrinath. smritis were collected written and memorized by about 20 disciples of veda vyasa a pen name for the principal perhaps. similarly 20 more disciples or resident of ashram collected brushed and modified once for all as shruti. they are unmodifiable thereafter and written in sanskrit. a language transformation that defies new grammer new meanings but on very fixed once for all. like all mathematician of today accepts first order mathematical logic as foundation of mathematics and set theory. mathematics is not supposed change hereafter. more and more theories and models allowed.
shruti has root but that is in oneself to be extracted by the listener. it talks about places people habits history and their correctness do not matter. the story itself would make one think oneself. what is the story of oneself? memories experiences preferences failures successes beliefs ...
shruti is the vehicle of gyan. it is individual's destination to supreme achievement possible in one's lifetime. knowledge of oneself. if not known in this lifetime, an earthling is reborn. shruti.
all is in my mind. who is that me? shruti says a human once born has to acquire this knowledge. the principal veda vyasa (pen name and hence immortal) says though some is born with self knowledge at birth.
ashtavakra who achieved self knowledge listening to recitation of shruti as if it is smriti by his father; father did not have self realization since he was only reciting and has no motivation of knowing oneself! but son achieved self realization even while still in womb of his mother. ashtavakra was born broken in 8 joints cursed by his father because he shouted at his father to stop reciting and start contemplating! Father wished him to be mocked at by everyone in street seeing him walking.
shuka had self realization being vyasa's son and mother being Pinjala, meaning 'cleansing cotton' and also a river stream of learning; shuka never wore any cloth (or cotton) himself being already cleansed of shame and other human feelings by his mother or river stream of learnings at home. he was not excitable. it is normally a lesson from janaka for self knowledge; and janaka does not take any student without knowledge of family life experience. But shuka was given the privilege even without experience of sex.
ashwathama who brayed like a horse at birth was Drona's son. he alone is given knowledge as a boon to his father. it is incomplete and a misfortune. the immortality is assured and so is his lifetime of misfortune of living and banished by humanity being inhuman who massacred stealthily at night all including children sleeping allowing none to escape. immortal though cannot be allowed to live among living beings.
shruti is essential for self knowledge. does anyone understand what shruti stands for? why it is not book for reading or faith or religion? shruti intended not to bind anyone to group or whatever but to severe all threads of ties or attachment of senses and relations. absolute.
all snakes evils demons devils dangers unreliable dishonest greedies are real and my relations. i live with them in my home. is it impossible for me to be comfortable relaxed naked and sleeping in open and yet not taken advantage of my carelessness? should i not eliminate some risks at least? is intelligence truly useless? is senses truly useless? is memory truly useless? is knowledge truly useless? what knowledge or security is essential for comfort? who always covers my back? can anyone lesser than almighty's assurance be enough for me?
