immortal

this story i heard about six years back from not so learned sadhu but worth listening to. it has a message and moral for all learned who finds gita may not be adequate for some and needs elaboration or explanation. i recommend this story for all pundits presidents principals and maharajas at rkm since they are engaged in public teaching of vedanta ~ all of them indulging in mutilating thakur ramakrishna marble statue that they believe is living ~ with their gurumara vidya.

a poor learned brahmin lived with his spouse in a cottage away from populace. brahmin would go for daily groceries from the society begging door to door; and on return. grihini would cook a meal for the day and they both would retire after eating the same. it is their daily routine without any interruption; they lived in everlasting peace and love.

there was interruption oneday.  that day brahmin did not get any alms ~ not even a fistfull of rice. thinking of his waiting grihini, he was very sad at heart, he was returning home. on the way it started raining. he took shelter under a tree and waited for rain to stop. he started thinking to keep his mind away from the disaster at home; that he was unable a fetch even a fist of rice for his sahadharmini.

to keep his mind occupied, he started closely examining gita that he knew by heart. he found glaring faults and needed correction. he started in his mind to make corrections. after a while it stopped raining. he was now sad no more with his intellect having found some faults that was never noticed for many thousand years. he was thinking of reputation and rewards he should be receiving for his contribution to gita.

he came to his door and found his grihini not at all sad but all smiles; she said that she had just received the delicious feast sent by him and waiting for his return so that both may feast together. indeed the entire vicinity was filled with smell of divine feast, never smelt before. he was totally taken aback asked who really delivered them because he got no alms that day!

grihini said that it was a fair boy and a dark child who delivered the feast. however, she added the dark one was hurt in his chest and was bleeding. she was worried and was told that he apparently got hurt by a scratch of your pen.
