মাসীমা
i think i was in class one when masima came to our place alone searching for job as school teacher in chittaranjan after het BT training. she stayed for one month and got a job and took some temporary job and accomodation and left with Dada to live separately. It upset my mother and me very much. Her three children came soon after. madhu was two years senior to me, basu of my age, jagu was three years younger. masima was hard of hearing.
ever since they were part of our family. she was ever so discriminating about dada always criticizing him. while dada had not ever raised a single critical comment for her. it was selfless sacrifice from dada. masima lived 15 years after dada's death.
today I came to know from buron that masima is no more and has died this morning india time. she was part of all occasions in our family. she was stubbornly very materialist. she made three flats. she also kept dada's land and it was not given even after jamaibabu pursued. i infact refrained him to go any further. I did not like to deal with madhu jagu after chhorda's death.
basu is a mendicant and jagu madhu do not wish to share masi's property with him.
basu lived with us after his mtech for several months trying to eke out a living.
am i paying back masima for her deeds to dada and forever she talked about the same?
anyway besides all accounting i did never had any ill feelings about her except her constant criticism about dada.
she lived about 95 plus. she retired around 1980. she was living in dada's quarter till dada retired till 2005. dada genuinely looked after her for 50 years selflessly. she never lived with her sons while dada was alive. Lately i heard she was sleeping always and not eating.
I have barely seen any person who lived minimally without any waste. masima attended all our occasions. however she long declared that she would not spend any money on any even on her family. she did not believe in giving away. her money remained with her as well as property. two sons got married except for their education she did not give them anything by way of will or gift. her need was very minimal she made three flats but they remained in her name. basu became a mendicant sadhu. her ornaments remained with her. basu to come regularly and take her school pension every couple of months.
spending according to her is a big waste. i made her a reader's digest member. every copy got lost in postal delivery she would write to me get a replacement copy. in my marriage she gave a ring to joya. she got both gold and stone from dada for the gift. she used to read newspaper regularly for one reason alone her pension would rise due to price rise. although she even stopped eating. dada was very fond plants birds and animal. most of the food and milk used to be available at home only. some of dada's followers wished to make an ashram in dada's land. she took the land papers wit her. jamaibabu wanted to see what was the story. but he could not make it to chittaranjan to find out. I asked him to forget it because masima told me that she would not allow any such thing like loss of land property.
as long as she could she did all her work including washing. towards the she just stopped eating and sleeping all the time. her youngest son is 65 years old and posthumously born. she was an hindu widow for 65 years at least. vegetarian was not wearing extravagantly. she inherited lot of property and two kilogram gold ornaments.
